The Search is Over! By Dr. Stewart Pisecco (Houston, Texas)
As a faculty member in a college of education I frequently consult with area school districts and conduct staff development workshops, so I understand teachers' need for intervention strategies that are easy to use and effective. It is also why Teach and Reach is at the top of my "must read list" for all teachers. Simply stated, it is one of the best practical guides for teachers that I have ever read. If you are looking for practical and common sense interventions that work, you can start and end your search with the purchase of Teach and Reach.

OBJECTIVES
We have tried to develop a convenient, easy to use format to facilitate
your using this book as a reference and guide. Some elements are
purposefully repeated in several sections as they applicable to various
teaching strategies. We believe these elements are especially important
and justify reminding. Also, we want each chapter to be useful and
meaningful on its own so you only need to refer to a specific chapter as
needed.
More specifically the objectives of this book are to:
* Increase the educator's knowledge and understanding of ADHD.
* Familiarize the educator with the assessment and treatment of ADHD.
* Facilitate the educator's understanding of how the student's ADHD
characteristics are manifested in the classroom.
* Emphasize the necessity of implementing adaptive classroom
management and teaching strategies to maximize the student's
opportunities for success.
* Sensitize the educator to the educational, social and psychological
needs of the student.
* Emphasize the importance of adequately preparing the classroom and
incorporating effective teaching strategies before difficulties develop.
* Emphasize the importance of establishing ongoing, effective means of
communication between home and school to facilitate the educational
process and utilize parents' expertise regarding their children.
* Provide practical, effective teaching methods and strategies to teach
and reach ADHD students of all ages.
* Emphasize the integral, vital, memorable role the educator has in the
life of an ADHD student.
* Provide information regarding educational laws which protect the
rights of ADHD students.
* Provide resource information.
